“Little t” traumas keep playing in the background.
You’ve got a collection of “little t” traumas.
Those things that happened to you were embarrassing, emotionally painful, and tend to repeat in your head.
Those traumatic experiences make you wonder why you didn’t handle a particular situation differently or why that person did that to you.
“Big T” traumas can create emotional upheaval.
You’ve also got one or more “Big T” traumas that caused big-time emotional injuries.
They make you feel ashamed, alone, miserable, irritable, and fearful. You try hard to get it out of your head, and it works but only briefly.
Then, you get vivid memories and body sensations out of the blue.
You deal with the trauma through your coping strategies of shopping sprees, drinking, drugging, gambling, exercising, eating, sex, or whatever can give you some reprieve from the pain.
The band-aid was ripped off.
You seemed to be holding it together okay, but one day something triggered you.
Everything came rushing back like a tsunami, and that colossal wave slammed you down so hard that it felt like it was happening again. You were sure you’d get completely swept away and drown under the sheer force of it all.
Now, you can’t sleep and can’t seem to catch your breath. Things seem so dark and bleak.
You wonder if you’re going crazy.
The noise in your head won’t turn off.
You’re snapping at your kids, arguing with your partner, ready to curse out your boss, and shaking while driving on the freeway. The crying spells keep coming, and you think you’re about to blow.
The only thing you can think to do is to isolate and stay away from people until you can get your coping strategies working again. They were always marginal at best, but they are too little too late this time.
You feel trapped, alone, and afraid more than ever.
You’re not going crazy.
Although you may think you are the only one in the world dealing with trauma and having these symptoms, what you are experiencing is not uncommon.
Many people have lots of trauma in their lives from as far back as early childhood. They try to just forget about it
They put on their adult underpants, work hard, and live their lives to the best of their abilities. Something happens that brings it front and center. It demands your attention, and you can no longer ignore it.
Therapy 911.
What if you were shot several times and never went to the doctor for treatment? At the very least, you’d be walking around with bullets inside you, causing problems with your internal organs and oozing blood.
You’d likely be dead. When you think of your life, part of you has died because you are NOT fully living.
It’s time to stop merely surviving and start thriving!
Let me help you heal from the inside out and give your brain and your heart the rest and care they deserve.
